What is eCommDirect?
Welcome to eCommDirect – a direct purchase program for Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) offenders. eCommDirect lets friends and family make deposits into the account of an offender incarcerated in a TDCJ facility and purchase commissary goods.
Can you buy a TV in TDCJ?
Inmates may purchase additional items from the unit commissary by using funds deposited into the inmates’ trust fund accounts. With a few exceptions due to unit design, inmates do not have televisions in their cells.
How do you send an eComm to an inmate?
Enter the inmate’s number and the inmate’s last name; Add items and/or deposits to shopping cart; Checkout, paying with your Visa, Discover or MasterCard; and, Print your confirmation receipt.
How do I register my phone with TDCJ?
To receive calls from an offender at any TDCJ facility, you must register your cell or landline phone number at www.TexasPrisonPhone.com. You can also call 866-806-7804 to register your landline phone.
Is commissary expensive?
The pricing information discussed earlier provides evidence of an important fact: commissaries can afford to sell goods at prices comparable to or lower than free-world stores even while absorbing extra security-related costs (such as secure warehouses) and reaping healthy corporate profits.

Those who want to send food, clothing and other gifts to incarcerated relatives — at any time of year — often must go through private vendors. Here’s how it works: Families shop from print and online catalogs supplied by care package companies. Every item is prison- and jail-approved.

eCommDirect – Offender Commissary Purchases. The TDCJ Commissary and Trust Fund Department utilizes an online program where friends and family may make purchases for eligible offenders up to the maximum quarterly spend.
When is the ecommdirect store closed in Texas?
Hours: eCommDirect Store is closed weeknights from 8:00 PM CST to 4:00 AM CST. Purchase and Deposit Eligibility: Friends and family may make commissary purchases for eligible offenders up to the maximum quarterly spend.
How to apply for ecommdirect in Texas?

Do you have to be an approved visitor for ecommdirect?
To purchase on eCommDirect or make a deposit for an offender, you must be on the offender’s Approved Visitor or Offender Telephone List.
