What is a piston clearance?

What is a piston clearance?

Piston clearance is the clearance or gap between the piston and metal cylinder, To avoid damage due to excessive expansion of piston on getting. Heated during combustion.

How do you calculate dynamic compression ratio?

Compression ratio formula It can be calculated according to the cylinder volume formula: Vd = b2 * s * π / 4 . Vc is the volume above the piston when the piston is at the top dead-centre (its topmost position), also called the compressed volume. b is the cylinder bore (diameter). s is the piston stroke length.

What causes cylinder to double in Polaris engine?

We have found it common to see the piston to cylinder wall clearance DOUBLE in less than 1000 miles.. THIS is the #1 reason behind these cylinder failures associated with the Polaris Engine!! IT IS NOT due to a rod ratio error! It is SOLELY related to excessive piston to cylinder wall clearance!

Why is the piston on my Polaris engine not working?

FINDINGS: We find that the OEM Polaris Piston will NOT hold its form after a very short time of running. We have found it common to see the piston to cylinder wall clearance DOUBLE in less than 1000 miles.. THIS is the #1 reason behind these cylinder failures associated with the Polaris Engine!!

What are the different types of Polaris Pistons?

Our CUSTOM pistons (Direct replacement, Drop In, AND Big Bore) are CUSTOM designed! They have very a proprietary design that is unique to ALL of our pistons. They are also lighter than the OEM Piston and that will help with the acceleration from a stop.

What are the gaskets on a Polaris piston?

NOTE: ALL pistons come with Rings, Wrist Pin, and Circlips! NOTE: RKT Top end gasket kit is comprised of the Base Gasket, Y -Pipe Gasket, Exhaust Valve Gaskets (Non-HO ONLY), and Inner Compression O-rings. These gaskets are not part of the piston ONLY kit but are available in the options.

How do you measure 2 stroke piston clearance?

If your cylinder needs honed to get some crosshatching in it do that first, then lay the cylinder on its side and lay the long feeler guage in the cyl (start with the smallest one) then slide the piston in with the feeler guage. If its still loose then repeat with the next size.
