What happened to the BCS national championship?
The BCS National Championship Game was played for the final time in 2014 after the same organizing group established a new system, the College Football Playoff, a four-team single elimination tournament, as the successor to the BCS.
How did the BCS system work?
The BCS takes the number of points for each team, and divides them by 1450, which is the number of points a team would have if they were ranked #1 on all the ballots. The process is the same as the Coaches Poll, except the number of points in the Harris Poll for each team are divided by 2850.
