What happened Gene Ween?
Officially, the band had “broken up.” Ween had split suddenly in 2012 after Aaron Freeman–a.k.a. Gene Ween–announced via an interview with Rolling Stone that he was “retiring Gene Ween,” and referred to his time with Ween as a “closed book.” Mickey seemed just as surprised by the “breakup” as any of the band’s fans.

New Hope, Pennsylvania’s favourite cult rock heroes, Ween, have announced they are getting back together. The band have announced they will play their first shows since New Year’s Eve 2011 at Broomfield, Colorado’s 1st Bank Center on February 12 and 13, 2016.

Why is Ween called Ween?
It shouldn’t be a shock that “Ween” was a nonsensical name fabricated by the childhood friends while they were mates in an eighth grade typing class. Freeman recently released his debut solo album under his birth name of Aaron Freeman and plans to focus on his solo career in the future.
