What does the TPS do on a Polaris?
When i would be coasting down a hill at about 10 -15 mph the engine brake would start engaging and releasing over and over. The only way to solve this problem on the trail was to give it some gas but then I had to apply the brake to slow down. Not sure if the TPS affects the engine braking. I never received a code for this or got an engine lite.
Why is my PPS not working on my Polaris?
Reason I’m asking is you may have gotten water in your PPS and it’s causing the code. Might be worth checking it. No, it didn’t get wet. I ended up taking it to the dealership to try and clear the code. Found out it’s the throttle body that has failed.

It tells the ECU how far open the butterfly in the throttle body is. If the TPS goes bad it can make the machine run erratically, or cause a hesitation at certain rpm’s.

How to adjust the TPS on a Ranger?
If you want to do it “right” and not pierce the wire insulation, you can buy the Polaris TPS adjustment harness ( Polaris part # 2201519-A ), which simply “T’s” into the existing harness plug. (2) Connect the negative lead of your meter to a good ground on the Ranger (the engine will work…..no need to go all the way to the battery).
