DECA GOALS stands for Duty, Exceptional, Champion, Actual. The first level baseline expectation for a goal is called the “Duty” goal—think of this as the minimal acceptable and relatively easy level of success for your chapter. The next progressive level is called the “Exceptional” goal.

Once DECA stood for “Distributive Education Clubs of America,” but that changed 14 years ago and now the group calls itself “An Association of Marketing Students,” to better describe its focus.

Collegiate DECA’s Competitive Events Program allows students to put their experience, skills and knowledge to the test while representing their college or university. The Collegiate DECA Competitive Events Program is recognized for helping to prepare students for their professional careers.

STUDENT. SCHOLARSHIPS. DECA’s scholarship program provides over $200,000 in scholarships to high school and college DECA members at the International Career Development Conference (ICDC) each year. Many corporate partners of DECA provide scholarships through the DECA scholarship program.

DECA was established in 1946 with a goal to encourage students to explore the art of marketing. Although acquiring business skills, students began to realize their lack in involvement in other clubs and extracurricular activities and so began the organization of Distributive Education Clubs.
