Is the 02 F650GS a good bike?
The guy that was selling the 02 F650GS also had an 01 R1150GS for sale, which I test-rode right after the F650. It is a fantastic bike, and I could defintely see owning one someday.
What kind of warranty does BMW F650GS have?
Just ask if it has the latest software. A BMW mechanic told me that the F650GS has the lowest warranty claim rate of any bike BMW makes. I don’t know whether this is on a unit basis or on the amount of claim (the latter wouldn’t be as impressive).
Can a 2001 F650GS be traded for a 2001 650?
The deal I may get is trading my 1100 for a 2001 low mileage 650 with some nice options including side cases, Dakar screen, ABS and an alarm. And I’d get a couple grand cash on top of that. But maybe I’m better off keeping the 1100 and buying some platform shoes. For some reason my 02 F650GSA runs stronger than an 01 version of the same bike I had.
Are there any problems with the F650GS water pump?
Some folks have had problems with water pumps, voltage regulators, and fork seals. A very good source of information is f650.com, in the FAQ’s. Thanks for the replies, guys.

Is the BMW F650 a good work bike?
The F650 is solid, very reliable and good around town and on A roads. It’s not great on motorways but it is what it is. It’s a good work bike, the seat gets to you after a couple of hours and the brakes are not so good. Reliable but not too much go. Be in the right gear or it will let you know.
