Lain is by far one of my favorite animes of all time. The story is deep, well thought out, and very entertaining throughout. Every anime fan should see this series, but be prepared for a brain twister. I’ve watched it a good five times and I can honestly say I still find new tidbits of the story every time.

Sub. The dub isn’t awful but Lain’s voice always seems to stay the same throughout the series and Lain’s subtle development throught the course of the series is so important to the conclusion that that lack to change in her dub voice just lacks any sort of impact.

In the final episode, Lain chooses to erase herself from existence by removing memories of her from her friends and family. This move underscores the sociological and psychological theory that there really is no such thing as a core self.
