Here’s a few tips I use and it’s what’s recommended by JL:

  1. Turn off Bass EQ and adjust gain/input sensitivity first.
  2. Turn on Bass EQ.
  3. Start with a “Q” of 1.6.

Is higher or lower input sensitivity better?

Increasing the input sensitivity will ensure the amplifier now has the ability to produce it’s maximum, non-clipped output potential. If the input sensitivity isn’t lowered on a higher voltage input signal there is a strong risk of clipping and distortion at higher volume levels.

What should bass boost be set at?

If you wish to use the bass boost, use a 40Hz test tone, as you’ll see how much boost you can apply before distortion exceeds 1%THD. Once more, you’ll want the gain’s on the amps at minimum when playing test tones to locate the HU’s max clean volume.

Does lower frequency mean more bass?

Do Lower Hz Mean More Bass? In any music setup, subwoofers are considered the best when it comes to reproducing the best punchy bass. One rule of thumb is that the lower the Hz, the more the bass you’ll get. In most cases, some of the most powerful subwoofers can reproduce deep bass at a frequency range of 20Hz.

How high should my input sensitivity be?

When adjusting input sensitivity it’s recommended to set the previous source’s volume or output potential to 75%. This provides a bit of gain overlap for various types of music, the music’s recording quality as well as the varying signal strength between the sources (Bluetooth®, AM/FM, USB, CD, Satellite Radio, etc).

Is gain same as sensitivity?

The distinction between this and gain or volume is subtle, but important to understand because generally adjusting an input sensitivity control will not have much of a detrimental effect on a device’s signal-to-noise ratio, whereas a standard volume or gain adjustment can. …
