How old is the front motor mount on a Harley Davidson?
As it’s your 1st rubber mounted Harley, you may not be used to the exaggerated engine shake at idle, which is different than “vibration” underway. My 23 yr. old Dyna has the original mounts, but doesn’t “shake” anymore than my 8 yr. old Electra Glide (which is considerable at idle).
Is there a way to check the front motor mount?
The manual does not give any measurement for this, it only states to be sure the mounts support the weight of the engine, that said the Dyna is notorious for weak factory front and rear mounts The front mount gets destroyed if not using good oil filter changing practices
Can you use Glide pro on front motor mount?
If you install the Glide Pro front mount and the vibration isn’t eliminated or at least diminished, something else is going on. I replaced the worn out oem on my ’06 flhtc with a Glide pro, it did not totally eliminate the vibration but, it did make for a better ride.
How do you install a new motor mount?
Spray a bit of Windex on the rubber portion of the new motor mount. This makes it even easier to put the new motor mount in place. Tighten the two nuts that attach the motor mount bracket to the engine (H). Torque 33 to 38 ft-lbs (see Figure 4).
