How do you test a Polaris stator on a snowmobile?
To test the stator you have to test the resistance between the wires. Unplug all plugs from the harness and test the resistance from the green wire to the black with red. It should be 15 ohms. The reading between the green and red should also be 15 ohms.

Why does my ZR 600 have no spark?
I started my zr 600 yesterday and it ran for about 1 min and stalled, i now have no spark, i’m not sure if it is the stator or not, all the switches seem o.k. and my headlight will fire when i pull it over and the computer flashes also,but no spark. if anyone could give a few hints on what it may-be or what else to check that would be great. :bash:

All Cats 1997 and earlier run a closed ignition, with the exception of the 1997 ZR 580 that is an open ignition. First you want to see if it an issue in the switches/handlebars or if it is in the primary ignition components: stator, cdi, coils, trigger coil or possibly plugs, plug wires or plug caps.

First put the spark plugs in the spark plug boots and lay them on the cylinder head bolt away from the cylinder plug hole so they are grounded. If you pull the sled over and the spark plug is over the spark plug hole and it sparks it will ignite. Pull the recoil rope and check the spark at the plug.

How to check the spark stator on a snowmobile?
The check is to measure the resistance at the three wire plug that is between the stator and the ECU. From the center wire to either of the other two should be 10-20 ohms if it was rewond it might be slightly less. If you can measure a/c voltage at the same point it should be above 20v on a quick pull.
