How much does it cost to replace a differential bearing?
Repair. If it’s something simple, like replacing a gasket, you shouldn’t spend more than $150-$250. However, it only goes up from there. Replacing a worn bearing with a new one will run between $200-$400, and sealing the piston or side should cost $400 to $800 due to the extra time required.
Do you need to take the pinion bearing apart?
Yes, that is the case if you are setting up new gears. But if you the FSM you will notice that it says to take a reading before taking anything apart. This is your point of reference that includes the pinion preload and the torque it takes to turn everything else as well. So in this case you don’t need to tear the assembly comletely apart.
Can a crush sleeve be replaced with a pinion?
the pinion has two bearings. An inner and an outer (toward yoke). The outer can be removed and replaced along with the crush sleeve without removing the pinion, therefore not removing the carrier and soo on. I will post up how the job went.
How long does it take to replace a pinion nut?
It’ll take an extra 30 mins or so, but you’ll have an easier time to R2 that bearing. That is pretty hard on the gears to use an impact gun on them…having said that sometimes it is necesary and I had to do that on my front pinion nut when replacing the seal.
Do you have to remove the carrier and pinion?
Pinion preload is just that…pinion. If you’re also spinning the carrier and the the shafts, it will obviously take more force to spin all that than just the pinion. So brakes, shafts, and carrier will have to be removed as well.
How much does it cost to replace a pinion seal on a front differential?
The front differential does much less work generally though, and the front differential seal tends to last much longer. On average for most vehicles, it costs about $120 to replace a rear pinion seal.
Can you replace a pinion bearing without taking diff apart?
It’ll take an extra 30 mins or so, but you’ll have an easier time to R2 that bearing. #11 Re: Replace Pinion Bearing without taking Diff Apart!!! I always just use an impact gun and my hand to hold the yoke. The bearing should come out easy, but the race won’t and your going to need to replace that as well.
How much does it cost to replace pinion seal on Jeep Wrangler?
But the costs for the pinion seal vary only a small amount between the different versions. For a 2010 Jeep Wrangler, the labor time to replace the rear pinion seal is estimated at 0.7 of an hour. A factory pinion seal costs about $22, and a National seal costs about $9.
