How does a EGR pressure sensor work?
The EGR position sensor detects the movement and position of the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve pintle. The EGR pressure sensor detects exhaust gas flow through the EGR passage.
Can you clean a DPF pressure sensor?
A DPF pressure sensor is vital to the longevity of the DPF, and if the DPF becomes completely obstructed, the regeneration process will not fix it. It will need to either be removed and professionally cleaned or replaced, both options on average costing thousands of dollars.
Can a failed dpfe sensor be an EGR blockage?
A failed DPFE Sensor (expensive)is often mis-diagnosed as a blockage in the EGR passages (even more expensive!), so it pays to BE SURE that the DPFE Sensor is GOOD — BEFORE the very time-consuming (very expensive) operation of opening up the whole EGR System for inspection and/or cleaning !
What kind of pressure hoses do Motorcraft dpfe sensors use?
This replaced a metal DPFE Sensor that came stock on this truck. I ordered the replacement hoses at the same time (Dorman 46019 EGR Pressure hoses for Motorcraft DPFE EGR Sensor). Be Cautious, these 2 hoses have different inside diameters and the ports are different sizes on the DPFE and the metal line they connect to.
What is the diagnostic code for Motorcraft dpfe 15?
The Motorcraft DPFE 15 (F77Z-9J460-AB) is a replacement for the earlier metal version (F48E-9J480-BB) that was the troublemaker in A LOT of PO401 & PO402 Diagnostic Code readouts. The tip-off is that when this part fails, it gives out BOTH CODES (too much OR too little EGR flow), either of which will turn on the “Check Engine” light.
Why did the Motorcraft Cool Running sensor fail?
The earlier, pot-metal version failed because the sensor inside the metal housing becomes overheated and burns out. The new, cool-running sensor housing is made of a molded phenolic composition that should last the life of the vehicle.
