Is Trick Shift Type F?

Can I use dexron 3 instead of Mercon V?
No, you shouldn’t substitute Dex III for Mercon V unless you add Lubegard MV to bring it up to spec. If you don’t mind ordering from the US then Philip Legate at www.specialtyformulations.com sells ‘AutoGlide’ ATF to Mercon V spec.
Is Type F and ATF the same?

What is the difference between DEXRON and Mercon transmission fluid?
Mercon V was introduced in 1997 for use in the Ranger, Explorer, Aerostar and other Ford vehicles. Though similar to Dexron in its red color, there are a few differences chemically. Mercon has a different flash point from Dexron. Mercon has a flash point of 170 degrees Fahrenheit and a fire point of 185 degrees.
