Can a 2000 Jetta GL shift from Park to reverse?
My 2000 Jetta GL has a problem whereby, sometimes it will not shift from park. The vehicle has approx 125k kms. It doesn’t happen all the time, but is happening more frequent, and can happen if parked on a slight grade or level surface. I can rock the car back and fort and them I am able to shift from park to reverse, neutral, drive, etc.
Is there a problem with my Jetta 20K?
I just recently was experiencing engine noise problems at 20k on my 2006 TDI Jetta, and the dealer just called me and said that the clutch was totally destroyed. The noise that I heard from the engine sounded more like a timing/misfiring problem and I was very surprised to hear anything about the clutch.

Now since I have owned the car, I have kept up on regular maintenance, replaced a window regulator, replaced wiring under the hood dealing with the spark plugs, replaced back bearings and shocks and a few other minor repairs.

When do you switch gears on a Jetta?
When I first got the car it would switch gears between 1 and 2 rpms but now it is going between 3 and 4 before it switches and it sounds like the car is working double time to go.
