Are there any issues with the 2000 dt466e?
Walkerv thanks for the heads up on the injectors. It’s not noticeable on cold start. It runs perfect thru all rpms until it gets to 180. TVA it starts fine either way. I was running it last night to get it to temperature, it seems to idle ok after 180 degrees.
Why does my dt466e not start when hot?
IMHO if it starts fine when hot that would seem to rule out the HEUI injection system, at least as a first diagnostic step. Usually the first symptom of leaking injectors or a wearing HEUI pump is difficulty to start when the engine is anything other than cold.
Do you need a radiator for a dt466e?
The 195 HP is the second lowest offered in the line-up, to get more powr you need more Tq and that includes pistons, turbo and injectors (possibaly the HPOP as well). In fact, you may need a lager CAC and/or radiator as well.

The truck will crank and accelerate great, then it begins smoking and goes into a limp mode with little pedal reaction. If you raise the rpm’s the smoke goes from whitish grey to dark almost black, but only when you raise the rpm’s.

Why is my 2000 dt466e losing coolant?
If cooling wasn’t holding pressure it’s either A leaking externally outside the engine or B going into the engine which would show up in oil or you would smell it coming out the exhaust and he said he doesn’t see anything in the oil. Plus would be losing coolant too. It’s not losing coolant and the oil i drained out was good.
Is the DT466 Turbo good for low power?
The clutch is fine, just got adjusted about a month ago, no smoke, just low power. Air filter is clean. Oil pressure is good. Temp was fine. No lights came on. The turbo isn’t really as noticeable in sound, but I can still hear it.

I thought water in fuel so i changed fuel filter and checked for water in tank. Changed oil today to look for anything out of the ordinary.
