Why does my Volkswagen Passat leak when it rains?
Driverside footwell floods with water during rain and snow accumulation. The water flows back to the driver side passenger footwell. Then the car stinks and causes the glass on the inside to get fogged up. It is so annoying!
Where does the water come from in a Volkswagen Passat?
I have to keep putting towels down to sop up the water. Water pooling on driver side, leaking into the back passenger floorboard as well. First noticed after car was shipped from San Diego California to Atlanta Georgia. Now after it rains same thing happens with water pooling on the floorboard.

I pulled the glovebox to do a little digging and found that the source of the water was the HVAC cutout on the firewall. Their is ducting in the cowl that is supposed to prevent water from entering, but the seal had either lost it’s seal or the piece had warped enough to no longer seal.
