Why does the alarm go off when the hood is closed?
The hood switch is open when the hood is closed. So connecting the two hood switch wires would signal that the hood is open, which would of course set off the alarm. If you disconnect the hood switch, by default the security system will always see the hood as closed. Check the tailgate latch switch.
