What to do if your truck wont start?
When I tried to start it, it wouldn’t. Engine would crank over fine, but wouldn’t fire. I gave it a shot of starting fluid and it would run til it was gone and quit. I removed the spin on fuel filter and replace it with a spin on block off plate, drained a bit of fuel from the Davco (no water).

Why does it take so long to start a 300K engine?
Sure why not. On high mileage engines (200k to 300k) the pistons ring can wear causing low compression which increases crank time and causes hard starting. This is because the compression ratio is low and it takes time for the engine to gain enough speed cranking by the starter to ignite the fuel air mixture.
What causes engine crank time to be extended?
Another common reason for extended crank time for engines is a vacuum leak. Engine vacuum must be a sealed system which the mass air flow and map sensors depend on to send feedback information to the main computer which in turn sets the stage for the engine starting sequence.

If you have a late model GM vehicle and turn the key only to hear nothing, you’ll most likely think you have a dead battery—and you may. But a no start, no crank, no click condition can be far more involved than that. In the old days, power flowed through the ignition switch and down to the starter solenoid. Not anymore.
What causes a C-15 cat engine to spin faster?
Downshift until you are pulling under 20 PSI on the manifold pressure and have your RPMs over 1600, this will cause the fan to spin faster and cool better. As for your fuel mileage, that is very common for an ACERT. Sounds like a typical ACERT to me.
When did Caterpillar switch to the ACERT engine?
