Why do I hear a thumping noise in my left ear?
It is a type of rhythmic thumping, pulsing, throbbing, or whooshing only you can hear that is often in time with the heartbeat. Most people with pulsatile tinnitus hear the sound in one ear, though some hear it in both. The sound is the result of turbulent flow in blood vessels in the neck or head.
What kind of thumping noise does a car make?
It sounds as if I have a bold spot on a tire and is very faint. I can also feel it faintly through the steering wheel. It’s not a ticking or hard knocking noise. Also, the noise is variable depending on the speed AND the duration of noise is also speed dependent (going slow, the thump is drawn out. Going faster, the thump duration is shorter.)

What should I do if I hear a thumping noise on my brakes?
Do this three to five times, while keeping a steady speed; the noise should disappear, or at least be 90% gone. Then drive the car at normal speeds and use the brakes the way you normally would. If the noise has not changed, you may have a different thumping noise than what I have described here in this article.

Why does my front brake rotor make a thumping noise?
Check the front brake rotors for a rusty spot exactly the size of a brake pad. Are you feeling it through the brake pedal when lightly applying the brake? You don’t say, but if the car was parked for a while in moist conditions, the pad may have rusted to the rotor and the spot may be thumping on every rotation.
