Why do headlights turn off when turning?
They are daytime running lamps, intended to improve your visibility to other motorists, not light up the road in front of you. They turn off when using the turn signal to increase the visibility of the turn signal.
What happens when headlight switch is bad?
One of the most common symptoms of a faulty headlight switch is issues switching between headlight modes. If the headlight switch fails or wears out it can cause problems operating the headlights. A broken switch may only work on certain modes, or may cause them to come on and off intermittently and erratically.
What is recommended as to when you should turn on and off your headlights?
You will have less time to stop if a hazard lies ahead. Make sure you can stop within the distance lighted by your headlights. The law says you must turn your headlights on 30 minutes after sunset and leave them on until 30 minutes before sunrise.
