Why are the low beams on my i30 not working?
Assuming it is OK and the lights are not wired in series. When you switch the low beams on and off at the switch, you can hear the relay clicking. Does anyone have any other suggestions as to what the problem could be? The obvious step is to verify there is no voltage to the lamp. White i30 SLX CRDi, 5sp man. Brisbane, QLD

Why are both headlights on my i30 not working?
I’m stumped at the moment. So assuming both lamps are actually blown it looks like a clear case of FD CRDi sudden headlamp failure. This has been discussed at length and there appears to be strong belief that it has something to do with inadequate earthing at some point.

The same lever that switches between lows and highs and for turn signals. If you’re in front of a wall or in your garage and pull the lever you can see that all come on while the lever is pulled back if the engine is running and the truck is in gear, even if the headlights are off.

What can cause a low beam headlight to be dim?
If it is, use a voltmeter to see how much power, if any, is reaching the headlights. If there is no power reaching them, there is a break in the wiring somewhere between the fuse panel and the headlights themselves. Thanks! What can cause the light to be dim except when on the high beam setting?

The high and low beams will have their own relay. The switch is only used to energize the relay, which then provides full power to the headlights. This is the device that “switches” between high and low beams.
