Why are the brake lights not working on my i30?
If the high line light is working it would appear that the brake light switch is OK. Could be a poor earth connection to the rear brake lights. Whatever – get it fixed under warranty. Why is my passenger side brake light not working?
The brake light (passenger side) went out. I replaced the bulb and the other one while I was at it. But the passenger side brake light still doesn’t work. Even tried switching bulbs to use the one that I knew was working on driver’s side, but still wouldn’t work on passenger side. I see that there’s only one fuse control for both lights.

Replaced the bulbs checked the fuse.Still no brake lights. The high line brake light still works, the tail lights still work, but no brake light on ether side. Fuse Box and Light Switch. You have to find the fuse box or the power distribution center (PDC). You will get the fuse panel under the dashboard and the PDC under the hood. The brake light switch is also to be found under the dashboard and check if its plunger touches the brake pedal arm.

Why are the brake lights not working but the tail lights are?
Blown out light bulbs are the most common reason for why the brake lights not working but the tail lights are. Remove the screws from the bulb lens (which you can access through the trunk or see your vehicle repair manual to get the exact location). Push the bulbs and turn them counterclockwise to remove from the socket.

Why does the shift lever not move out of Park?
It prevents the car from being shifted out of park, if the brake pedal is not depressed. The car is fooled into thinking you don’t have your foot on the brakes if: (1) The main brake light fuse is blown or not making proper contact. (2) If the brake pedal light, switch is faulty.
