Why are the base gaskets on my Evo 1340 leaking?
They eliminated this weakness with an “O” ring type of seal in the newer TC engines. The evo’s had this weakness in the cylinder base gaskets and many had to change them because of seepage. I don’t think that the excess oil had much to do with it.

I have around a 1990 80″ EVO motor on a custom chopper i built. I can fill my primary with 1.5 qrts and in twenty minutes time the primary will be dry. The primary oil is pulled into the motor oil system and overflows out the crankcase vent.

Go to engine and oil pump and you will find the tappet screen and where it is. It will also show you how it goes back together. It is lockated near your oil pump on the rear of the right case. When ever you pull the spark plugs get a small light to shine in the hole. You will see cross hatching on the cylinder wall. The rings never seat.
