Where is the factory timing mark on a Nissan?

The little mark on the Timing cover (black arrow pointing at it) needs to be in the middle of the section of the cas with the red curves arrows. That is the factory timing. mydato wrote: Have always timed DET’s at 10 degrees.

How to adjust ignition timing on a Nissan?

Discuss topics related to the CA18DE and CA18DET series engines. ok, to check it, i use a spark plug wire inbetween the spark plug and coil, then put the timing light clamp on the wire and point the light at the crank pulley correct? to adjust i use the CAS? just need some clearing up as i’ve never done this before. Where is the timing light on a Nissan CA18?

Very easy to get close to factory timing without a timing light on a CA18 anyway. Goto TDC slide CAS in, do bolts up lose. On the side of the front CAS cover where the CAS slides in (right side) you will see a little dash right next to the CAS.

Why is the timing chain on my Nissan club breaking?

It would rattle everytime I start the engine after it was sitting for about 1 hour or so. Sometimes it would rattle sometimes not. Finally I openned the cap where the main timing chain tensioner and I saw that main timing chain guide broke. Usually it brakes from the top and slides down. Therefore the main tensioner fully extends.

How are the timing marks on a Nissan Patrol?

That being the case, it was put together like that by Nissan. It effectively is timed right, but to make it look right as well, the idler gear needs to be rotated three teeth clockwise. All other timing marks line up correctly. Cancel the 16 turns.

What should the ignition timing be on a Nissan Leaf?

Much easier than pulling the coil, adding and adding a wire. To adjust, turn the CAS. Timing should be 15* BTC. Looking at the marks on the crank pulley, from left to right (passanger side to driver side) is 5* AFTER TDC, 0, 5, 10, 15, 20* BTC. So you want to line it up with the second from right mark.

How do you set ignition timing with no timing marks?

Rotate the engine very slowly back and forth until the screwdriver is at the maximum height. This indicates the number one cylinder is at Top Dead Center or “TDC” on the compression stroke. Locate the number one spark plug wire on distributor cap and make a tic-mark of this position with a marker pen on the distributor housing.

How do you change the timing on a spark plug?

Loosen the distributor hold down bolt and turn distributor until the rotor is lined up with the mark you made in Step 3. Your timing is now set to zero degrees of mechanical timing. Replace the valve cover using a new gasket. Replace the spark plugs and spark plug wires using the marks from Step 1.
