When to replace timing belt on Mitsubishi Triton?

When to replace timing belt on Mitsubishi Triton?

the diesel has a timing belt with idler and tensioner and another belt for the balance shaft with a tensioner. Both belts and tensioners and idler should be replaced at 100.000 km, although I have done all mine at 150,000 km with no problems (all long runs). Finally got FTTN, 710m line length….

How to fix timing marks on Triton Turbo Fixya?

What was the cause of the timing belt failure?

Finally got FTTN, 710m line length…. catastrophic failure of the engine, all the valves are bent, pistons are all scored, the pulley that failed exploded in the case destroying the timing belt, tensioner and all associated bits, timing belt didn’t snap but during the failure but the timing changed and this caused the pistons to hit the valves.

How does the timing belt work in an engine?

The engine’s timing belt drives the camshaft (s) (“top end”) from the rotation of the crankshaft (“bottom end”). The belt keeps the piston and valves in “time” during operation. In the worst case, the engine assembly will need to be replaced.

What is the timing drive on a Mitsubishi V6?

The Timing Drive on the Mitsubishi V6 family of engines (6G72, 6G74 and 6G75)incorporates a hydraulic automatic tensioner (HAT) to maintain tension on the timing belt. A typical example of the V6 timing drive with HAT is shown below.

How do you change a timing belt on a car?

A clever technique I saw for changing timing belts was to cut along the belt, to drop off the front 1/2 to 2/3, using the remaining section to keep all the cogs in place while fitting the new belt. Once the new one is on the cogs, chop off the remaining old belt and slide the new one on the rest of the way.
