Going off my 2012 J4 spec it has fluid change at 72 months or 90,000km so if never changed in 8 years it would be due (not sure about filter lifespan but changing it can’t hurt). Thanks Mooman. My manual says “As required” under the quantity column.

I believe the auto transmission (CVT) fluid requires changing at recommended 7years or 105,000km, mainly due to age rather than distance travelled.

Total amount drained 5 litres. Then put in 4litres of J1 (from Mitsubishi dealership). Took it for a short drive to warm up the engine and auto, come back and checked fluid level with engine idling and in Park on level ground (oil level at lower end of C marking on dipstick).
