In the 1880s, Frank Tucker moved from Portland Oregon to work as a carpenter in a town called Baden (soon to be renamed South San Francisco), which he described as “a sure frontier town if there ever was one. Saloons, gambling, cow boys, dancing and a plenty of gunmen” (Tucker).
