What happens when you rev your engine to high RPMs?
Whatever you do, don’t rev your engine high when it’s still below its operating temperature. The thicker oil won’t properly lubricate your engine when its cold. Of course, if you have an emergency, remember that it’s only a machine. Machines can be fixed or replaced, people a lot less so.
What happens if you rev your engine 24 / 7?
Revving it hard /will/ shorten its lifespan, BUT usually not in a VERY noticeable amount. (if you rev it at the redline 24/7, you might run into some issues, though). I said that this is the case, all other things being equal. There are a boat load of other things, though: engine break-in, maintenance, temperature, fuel mixtures.
Why does my car rev up and down?
I have a 2002 Trailblazer LTZ. When I am driving usually I notice around the speeds of 50-60 mph my car revs up and you can watch the rpm’s go up and down. There is not check engine lights on. WARNING DO NOT REV YOUR ENGINE HIGH WHEN ITS COLD. This is universally true, but ESPECIALLY so during break-in. Allow the engine to heat up properly. note: A lot (but definitely NOT all) of newer engines in cars or bikes don’t require break-in anymore.
What causes car RPMs to go up but not down?
There might be a leaking vacuum hose in the car, hoses deliver air and fuel to the combustion chamber. If it is leaking, the air will mix with the gas causing the RPMs to go higher than it should be. Another thing to look out for is a clogged air filter if the air is having difficulties entering the combustion chamber.
