What happens if there is no power to the ignition?

What happens if there is no power to the ignition?

Brian : If there is not power to the ignition switch then you are looking for a short, or damaged wire between the fuse & the switch right there in the main harness & I would not be surprised if it is just a corroded connector. Brian : On a 30 year old bike anything is possible.

Is there any power at the main fuse?

With a continuity tester I pierced all positive cable that lead to the front of the bike with no juice at all. Brian : is there power at the main fuse? Customer: I just bought this bike a few days ago and almost right away this thing quit working.

Is there any power to the ignition switch?

The engine will turn when I skip the solenoid, but I still get no lights or click. Brian : Ok, if there is power to the main fuse you next need to check for power at the ignition switch. Customer: I checked with the continuity tester….but got nothing. Is there a specific wire you want me to look for. I focused mostly on the red. Brian :

What happens if you power the solenoid but not the main fuse?

the solenoid & main fuse are powered at the same point, everything else comes after that, starting with the key switch. So, as I said, if you power at the fuse & not the main switch, you have a damaged wire or corroded connector. A short would pop the fuse Brian :

What happens if there is no power to the ignition switch?

If fuse is good check for power being available at the ignition switch connector. If no power there, check wiring between PDC and the ignition switch-if power is up to the switch, but nothing happens with key on, no dash or warning lights, then could have a bad ignition switch. It just sounds like a maxi-fuse has blown, or a bad fusible link.

Why does my bike stop when I Turn on the ignition?

The main fuse is not part of this circuit and the only thing that stops the ignition working is the kill switch and the ignition switch which both connect a wire from the CDI unit to ground (negative – the frame). When you turn the ignition ‘on’ all you are doing is opening this connection so the CDI is no longer grounded.

What to do if your car loses all electrical power?

Re: Lost all electrical power no lights, no starter… Battery connections for tight -behind the switch /controls on steering shaft is a fuse /breaker check connections and condition also there is a fuseable link by the battery going towards the engine if good than test switch and connections from battery

How is the solenoid powered by the battery?

Brian : The solenoid is powered by the battery it always has power, when you jump the solenoid, not only is that a unhealthy idea for yourself, you force the starter to turn over by sending battery power straight to it, that will not supply you with spark. Customer:
