How many MP8 Motors does a truck have?
We have about 10 mo8 engines and they have all been great. One set of cups went bad on a 2011 (that truck was rolled has been problems ever seance) other then that the MPs have been awesome. sensor failed here and there and a couple def pumps.
What causes no start on Mack MP8 engine?
We’ve seen a no start condition caused by this All Mack mp engine starters are controlled by the engine ecu. The eecu provides the ground circuit for the starter relay. The purpose for that is to protect the starter from overcranking/overheating.
Is the ignition switch on on my MP8 truck?
All of the electronics and A/C were still on but the engine had shut down and no alarms. This truck does not do that like the newer ones do. Turned the ignition switch off and back on to fire the truck back up, but the starter will not turn over.
Why is my MP8 engine not cranking at all?
If the eecu sees excessive crank time it shuts off the ground circuit to the starter relay for a minimum of 30 seconds. Mine did the same thing. Took it to Mack and they pulled the oil temp plug on the driver side of oil pan and cleaned the oil out of it an it started right up.
What are the problems with the MP8 motors with Def?
What major problems are there with the new MP8 motors with DEF? Any ideas of what the best HP would be for good pulling power on hills and good fuel mileage? Gonna get the Allison auto and half the year pulling a shorty dump at 73,280 and the other half pulling a tank or a long dump at 80,000.

When does the mdrive transmission shift to neutral?
mDRIVE™ shifts to neutral if the engine is turned off to prevent accidentally starting the truck while in gear. When the parking brake is applied and the transmission is left in gear, it will automatically shift to neutral after four minutes to reduce the load on the drive train.
