Can you turbo a 2ZZ GE?
The 2ZZ loves boost. Its high stock compression ratio limits us to 7-8psi but that is still enough to put 260-280hp to the wheels. Simply upgrade your pistons and you can push any of the three turbos to its limits which means you’re near 400whp on the bigger turbos.
How much boost can a stock 2ZZ GE handle?
Your stock parts can only handle about 6-7 psi and about 260whp I believe. If you want more than 300 you will need to upgrade your rods, and drop lower compression pistons, probably will need to sleeve the block and do some other stuff. Rods and pistons are your main restrictions for higher boost.
Which is better 2ZZ ge or 1ZZ Fe?
So can someone tell the pro and cons of the engine swap, or rebuilt 2zz-ge vs. rebuilt 1zz-fe. (My guess is that a 1zz-fe is the same engine as a 2zz-ge, by making it higher compression, so a rebuilt 1zz-fe should be a better idea for more hp than a 2zz-ge) What’s your opinion?
Is there a turbo kit for a 2ZZ?
Turbo Kit for 2zz: One was made for my car at Hass Autoworks (now turbokits.com), but will probably be a custom, one-off kit. They can probably make more if demand calls for it, but I don’t want to speak for Jesse, so if you are truly interested contact him. The kit produced 285 whp at ~9 psi and 327 whp at ~11-12 psi.
Is the 1ZZ engine the same as the 2ZZ engine?
The 1zz was designed as an economy engine. They are not the same motor by a long shot. The 1zz with $3000.00 of port work and cams will never flow what the 2zz head does stock much less a ported 2zz. So it can never make as much n/a or turbo power. You will spend 3-4k on the 1zz to catch up to where the 2zz starts. 😕
How much horsepower does a Toyota ZZ GE have?
Unlike the 1ZZ, the 2ZZ-GE was really designed for performance and thanks to Yamaha it can actually like up to that claim. From the factory, most 2ZZ-GE equipped vehicles make around 180 horsepower which is pretty good considering it’s a naturally aspirated 1.8L engine.
