Can you get rid of rev hang?
Elimination/reduction of the rev hang is possible by modifying software in the ECM. There are various after-market companies offering “tunes”, predominantly for the purpose of improving performance by increasing power.
What causes hanging revs?
That extra fuel causes a rich air-fuel ratio, which is bad for emissions. Since modern cars have electronic throttle bodies, the car’s ECU can delay how much the throttle actually closes, despite your foot being all the way off the throttle. This throttle delay is what causes rev hang.
What is the point of rev hang?
Rev hang is a delay in engines revs decreasing when you lift off the throttle. It occurs on most modern internal combustion engines, but is more noticeable on manual transmission equipped cars because you are in complete control of shifting.
Does KTuner remove rev hang?
At lower RPM it may just hang at that RPM before RPM starts to decent. This creates the sensation of “Rev Hang”, a nickname that has been rightly assigned to this behavior. We have eliminated this behavior by adding a simple checkbox within the KTuner software.
Is rev hang good or bad?
Rev hang can be a nuisance but also has real-world benefits. Here’s everything you need to know! When you dip the clutch in a car, the revs will drop. This is due to the inertia of the flywheel, and the lack of air going in the intake as the throttle is release.
Can vacuum leak cause rev hang?
Check for small vaccum leaks b/c they can slow your throttle response. Check your dv’s diaphragm and make sure it isn’t sticking open. If it is a clutch problem, it will most likely get worse over time and the RPM hang will start to become more “dramatic” so to speak.
Is it bad to rev hang?
How high should you rev before shifting?
Generally, you should shift gears up when the tachometer is around “3” or 3,000 RPMs; shift down when the tachometer is around “1” or 1,000 RPMs. After some experience with driving a stick shift, you’ll be able to figure out when to shift by the way your engine sounds and “feels.” More on that below.
