Can you request to dorm with a friend?
Most colleges have a housing form that all freshmen-to-be who plan to live on campus must complete. Often this form will allow you to include the name of an intended roommate. In such cases, if you put your best friend’s name on this form and then your friend puts yours, you will be able to room together.
Can you choose who to dorm with?

Can you choose your dorm in UBC?
Most offers go to students who qualify for a guaranteed room in Winter Session Residence. A limited number of spaces are reserved for returning students. After accepting an offer, we work behind-the-scenes to assign residence areas and rooms based on room type preferences and roommate group requests.
Are UBC dorms first come first serve?
Some applicants are guaranteed a room in residence at UBC. We assign rooms to these applicants first. Prospective undergraduates who are incoming first year students and fall under one of our exception categories for 2020 Winter Session residence.
How much does it cost to live in residence at UBC?
Costs. Fees and payments will vary depending on what residence and type of room you live in, as well as if you require a meal plan. A typical cost for a room and a meal plan for a new undergraduate student is between $10,700 and $13,850 for two terms.
Can couples dorm together?
A handful of colleges do offer designated couples housing, usually for students who are legally married. Beyond that, if a couple lives in a standard gender-neutral dorm room, the relationship is their business (though resident assistants are usually pretty prepared for dealing with breakups and room reassignments).
