Why is the ECU not communicating with the scanner?
Once this was replaced, the issue seemed to be resolved until about 150 miles, the same issues occurred. This time around, the Lexus tech’s couldn’t pull codes due to the ECU not being able to communicate with the scanner. After looking at the ECU, they said they wouldn’t touch it until the SAFC2 was removed. Go figure right? This is where I enter.

There must be a broken wire somewhere. Usually between the firewall and engine. Dash harness never seem to give grief unless someone scotch locked a qualcomm to it. If you post the engine serial number I can try to give you pin numbers to check on the engine to ohm out with the dash.

Most require that +12 to operate from the car or even turn on. Good luck.. No problem man, I have a feeling your ECU is ok and if there is any problem at all, it may be the wiring to/from the port which I can elaborate where, the port itself or the scanner unless you’ve rules that out.

Found TDG while I was trying to research a problem on my 2000 Sterling at9500 with a CAT C12 I have a check engine light on the dash. So I connected my OTC Scanner and it replied not connected!!! I checked the diagnostic Plug on the truck and I have power to the right of the center plug and ground in the center like its suppose too?
