Why do I smell gas when I start my motorcycle?
Gasoline vaporizes as it heats up. Your motorcycle’s gas tank is vented to atmosphere so that the pressure inside the tank can equalize. As it gets hotter, the gas vapor will escape through the tank vent and the smell may become noticeable.

Why does my charcoal canister smell like liquid gas?
If it’s full of liquid gas, that could also be the source of the smell. Do you routinely top off the gas tank after automatic shutoff of the pump? If so, that will eventually flood the charcoal canister with liquid gas and cause problems. If the canister is full of liquid gas it needs to be replaced, and stop topping off the tank.
