What kind of transmission does a 2016 Silverado have?
I am thinking of going with a 2016 Silverado 1500 LT Z71 with the 5.3L and the 6 speed transmission or the 2016 Silverado 1500 LTZ – Z71 with the 5.3L and the 8 speed transmission. Currently only the LTZ offers the 8 speed transmission.
Is the Silverado 5.3L 6 speed or 8 speed?
The LT won’t get the 8 speed any time soon. The EcoBoost will out-tow the 5.3 no question. But the 6.2 will beat the EcoBooost unless you’re going to be towing at 10,000 feet. However, the 5.3 will pull 5,000lbs all day, no problem. You WANT the transmission to downshift.
Is the Silverado LTZ an 8 speed transmission?
Currently only the LTZ offers the 8 speed transmission. Does anyone know when the LT model will have the 8 speed transmission available? Is one rig going to tow better than the other? Will I notice much in overall performance?
