Why is Cape Blanco closed?

What to do in Cape Blanco State Park?
Use our private, sheltered campsites as your base camp while you enjoy the park’s history, trails and rugged coastline. More than eight miles of hiking trails lead to the beach, viewpoints of ocean vistas, fishing spots along the Sixes River, and the lighthouse.
How tall is the lighthouse at Cape Blanco?
The park land was purchased from the Joseph N. Hughes Estate in 1971. At the westernmost tip of the cape is a U. S. Coast Guard lighthouse reservation including an 1870 lighthouse. The headland is 245 feet above the sea and the light is visible for 22 miles at sea.

The beach is large enough that there is room for all, even though we’d prefer that NO vehicles, with the exception of the park vehicles, were allowed.
Where are the tide pools at Cape Blanco?
There are excellent tide pools on the north side of Cape Blanco with a large aggregate sand beach which if followed north leads to the Sixes River mouth and estuary–a great place for kids to do “stick launches” since the estuary is behind sand dunes out of the wind.
