In an effort to get the Commando in shape, I decided I had to fix the oil leak from the primary chaincase. It had got so bad that oil fumes, from the stuff burning on the exhaust pipe, were becoming a problem at traffic light stops.
Where does oil come from in a Norton cylinder head?
The primary chaincase leaks of course, but I call that character. Be sure there is no oil leaking from around your intake rocker cover. Oil leaking from there can be drawn forward through the small holes in the barrels that are between the cylinders. This is apparently done by a vacuum effect.
