ARSC stands for the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils. ARSC was created to address the need for uniform and consistent training of contract workers in the petrochemical plant environment. ARSC programs are now used in many industrial environments.

Basic Orientation Plus Refresher (BOPR) (ARSC) was developed by the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC) as an annual refresher course after initial completion of Basic Orientation Plus (course code 22 Basic Plus).
What is basic plus training?
The purpose of the Basic Orientation Plus® orientation is to inform the new contractor employee of general safety rules, regulations, practices, and principles associated with the construction and contract maintenance/services industry, as well as, re-informing and updating the experienced employee.
How long is basic plus refresher good for?
Eligible individuals are permitted to take the Basic Orientation Plus Refresher with a grace period of four (4) years beyond the one (1) year expiration date in compliance with ARSC five (5) year record retention policy.

Is there an ARSC study guide for basic orientation plus?
The current Basic Orientation Plus® and the Basic Orientation Plus-Refresher ® curriculum includes a new bank of professionally designed and validated test questions with a test design matrix. We have also provided an ARSC Study Guide for the Basic Orientation Plus® Programs and Spanish versions of the programs for the optional use of our members.
Is there an audit process for the ARSC?
ARSC has an Audit Procedures Manual that defines our audit process. ARSC member councils are currently audited on a two-year cycle thus insuring the ARSC objectives are met throughout the participating organizations.
