What is a VCI paper?
VCI paper (we call it ARMOR WRAP® VCI paper) is a clean, dry packaging material designed for the protection of ferrous and non-ferrous metals. When metal parts are wrapped or enclosed in VCI paper, VCIs activate and fill up the vapor space inside the packaging.
What is VCI paper made of?
Made from high quality neutral natural kraft paper, these paper products do not contain fluorochemicals, nitrites, phosphates, silicones, chromates, or other heavy metals. Cortec® VCI papers are effective against aggressive environments including humidity, SO2, and H2S.
Who makes VCI paper?
Daubert Cromwell
Daubert Cromwell is a global manufacturer of Volatile Corrosion Inhibitor (VCI) protection for metals.
Is VCI paper safe?
When applied in protective packaging products – paper, shrink wrap, paint coatings, desiccants, etc. – VCI compound concentrations typically do not contain a high enough dosage to cause serious harm.
Does VCI paper have a shelf life?
When ARMOR WRAP® VCI paper sheets are stored properly (nested together and wrapped or in some sort of closed container), the shelf life is two years from the date of manufacture.
How long does VCI paper last?
How long will VCI paper protect my parts in a sealed bag? If the paper used to package a part and is properly sealed in a Mylar (or other plastic) bag, the paper will remain active inside the packaging for at least 24 months.
Is VCI toxic?
Are VCI products safe to use? VCI emitters contain chemicals that are not known to be hazardous, toxic, or flammable. In fact, the emitter chemicals have been approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be used with food and beverage containers.
Are VCI bags reusable?
Zerust®/Excor® VCI film and bags can be reused if they are dry, clean, and undamaged. Small holes in the VCI film material can be sealed with adhesive tape.
How long do VCI bags last?
between 5 and 20 years
The VCI anti-corrosion chemistry can last between 5 and 20 years depending on how often the bag is open and closed. Opening the bag a few times within a month can yield at least 5 years, while opening it less frequently (a few times a year or less) can yield up to 20 years of protection.
What is anti – rust paper?
Anti Rust Paper. VCI paper provides extensive and effective rust protection when shipping or storing metal parts. The vapor corrosion-inhibiting technology behind Rust Inhibitor Paper enables long-term protection on ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including iron, steel, cast iron, copper, brass, galvanized steel and zinc.
What is a volatile corrosion inhibitor?
(March 2013) Volatile corrosion inhibitors (VCI) are a type of corrosion inhibitor that are used to protect ferrous materials and non ferrous metals against corrosion or oxidation where it is impractical to apply surface treatments.
What is VPI paper or powder?
VPI (Vapour Phase Inhibitor) Paper Specially pre-impregnated paper of various weights and types. This paper is impregnated with a vapour phase inhibitor to prevent corrosion.
