What was the fault with my abs light?
At last the dreaded ABS/ASR light saga has been solved. After spending 6 hours at an Auto Electrician the fault was diagnosed as a faulty right front solenoid valve.This was eventually traced to a broken wire inside the insulation. My thanks to Richard Moakes,Wireman.kth286 and television for their input and guidance.
