Is there a cheap fix for Toyota Tundra EVAP?
Discussion in ‘ 2nd Gen Tundras (2007-2013) ‘ started by Mr. Seven, Nov 2, 2019 . I had several EVAP related trouble codes pop on my truck awhile back (P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402 & P2419) & have been testing a cheap fix for the last 3000 miles with success.

Where to remove charcoal canister from Toyota Tundra?
Proceed at your own risk. -Remove the charcoal canister from under your truck bed (appx 7″ x 11″ black box located just above & fwd of your rear axle). You’ll need to remove 4 or 5 bolts…12mm if memory serves.
Where is the VSV valve on a Toyota?
Here I show how to test the VSV (Vacuum Switching Valve) which resides at the charcoal canister. Toyota calls it the VSV For Pressure Switching Valve. This is one of the diagnostic steps in solving the check engine light trouble code P0446 “Evaporative Emission Control (EVAP) system vent control circuit malfunction”.
What to do if your EVAP system is leaking?
Seal up any leaks & test until your air tight. If you find leaks somewhere other than your temporary hose caps…that may be your EVAP system issue. Seal them up & proceed. At this point I decided to “air out” the canister, as research indicated they can also throw codes if they become saturated in water or fuel.
Why is my Toyota VSV not vacuum switching?
EDIT: Refinishing the fuel filler neck (and using a new Toyota fuel cap) did not resolve the issue, so at least I can rule the fuel filler neck out as a cause. Will be checking the other VSVs and the hoses next. Did you find the recommended reading relevant to this discussion?
