Is the central locking on my R230 SL working?
This lockdown is killing my SL! I have another issue today, the central locking has stopped working. The red LED flashes on the keys but the doors and boot don’t unlock.
How does a power door lock lock work?
The power door locks utilize individual solenoids in each of the doors that activate the door lock mechanism. The switch provides power to the door lock solenoids. To lock the doors the switch provides voltage to the two terminals of the solenoid. To unlock the doors the switch reverses the polarity of the voltage applied to the solenoid.
What should I do if my remote central locking is not working?
Get a new battery in the fob regardless then put it in the barrel and turn the ignition on (dut don’t start it) then alternately press lock/unlock half a dozen times each. That will often sort it. If not it’s to the dealer for a re-code! EDIT: for spooling, cold fingers! Central Locking working, just not remotely!
Why does my front door lock not work?
If all of the door lock switches are functional but one door fails to operate, the most likely problem is an open circuit in the circuit between the switch and solenoid or a defective solenoid in the affected door. You should listen to the affected door while energizing the door lock.

The locks are vacuum operated. The pump is next to the battery under rear seat. Do you hear the pump starting when you press the remote, or dash button? 1994 E320 Wagon,1999 E320 Wagon,2000 E 320 Wagon, MGB Track/Rally, ,1988 300E ,more…. Resolved his problem.
What to do if your central locking system is not working?
If the fuse does not do it, take a picture of the unit and mark and number all the lines going to the unit. Open the Unit and see if the motor is burnt. (won’t turn) Look into the back of the motor with a light. If it looks burnt, you’ll need to remove it.
Where is the fuse for the central locking system?
It uses a $10.00 Johnson Electric motor that’s impossible to get an exact replacement. The fuse is under the back seat near the pump unit. 7.5amp I think. If you pull the 25amp fuse, you’ll need to reset the system!!!
