I bought an R1100RT (1999) with 60,000 miles on it 2 and a bit years ago and have been very pleased with it, apart from normal service items such as oils, filter and brake pads all i’ve replaced is the tyres, Dave. [iMO, 2500 is too low to ride the bike.

Are there any problems with a BMW R11?
Took care of many problems. The R11’s require a slightly higher voltage that the AGM batteries offer. The main problem is the alternating ABS light problem. I would look for a bike with heated grips. Would never consider a bike without them. They are wonderful. The ABS brakes are another feature I like a lot.
How often do you need tires on a BMW R1100RT?
Amsoil in the transmission has helped with rough shifting. $320 tires are required every 7,500 miles or so. I ride with several groups. This is still one of the most advanced bikes around. It has ABS, weather protection, and handling. Did you find this useful?

Find a BMW R1100S for sale. The BMW R1100S has nothing to get worked up about, unless a previous owner has treated him/herself to the BMW options list.
