The only way to get additional air and fuel into the combustion chambers is to put a cam with higher lift and / or longer duration in, bigger intake valves, some form of forced air induction or a wet shot nitrous system on the engine. Putting a 4.0 throttle body on will give me an extra 10 HP, right?

The major difference between the two is the 4.2 is carbureted and the 4.0 is fuel injected. Both has it’s own problems. I find the that the carburetor system to be easier to work on.

I have a 1990 YJ 4.2…Thought my problem was the carb originally so I bought the new carb and things seemed fine until I realized the ecm wouldn’t recognize the new carb …its a different animal. Still had the ignition gremlin but don’t regret upgrading to the mc2150.
