Does uverse use phone line?
AT U-verse does go through a phone line for your landline service, but the Internet and TV service enters your home through Ethernet or fiber optic cables.
Does uverse use phone line or coax?
U-verse can use a variety of cables to get the job done. It can use telephone wiring, a dedicated Cat 5 run, or coax to feed the signal inside the home from the NID on the back of the house. It can use either coax or twisted pair to deliver signals from the RG to the set top boxes.

The jack may be labeled as CAT5, CAT5E, or CAT6. Depending on the house, the jack may be surface mounted with or without a phone jack.
Does AT use coaxial cables?
AT at one time would use coax if that was the best available connection from the NID to the Gateway. They’ve not done that in years. Even then, it was twisted pair to the home which got converted to coax. At this point, you either get Fiber or twisted pair, depending on your service.

Do I need a landline phone to get internet in the country? No, you do not need a landline phone to get internet in rural areas. Years ago, some internet companies required you to have a home phone in order to get internet (such as AT and CenturyLink).
What if my house doesn’t have a phone jack?
One of the easiest ways to establish phone connectivity is by converting an electrical outlet to a landline. There are wireless telephone jacks available that you simply plug into any electrical outlet and, voilá! You’ll be able to connect up a corded or cordless phone.
Is a phone jack needed for WIFI?
