Which is better OnStar NAV or onboard Nav?
Onstar Nav and Onboard nav are different but are not mutually exclusive. If you have onboard nav and add an Onstar nav only subscription for about $12 a month, onboard nav does work better. Still not as good as Android Auto though.

Is there a way to bypass OnStar maps?
That would be a good compromise. If you have factory navigation you can download destinations from the free OnStar app. The maps on there are more up to date than the fixed maps on the nav system. So that’s kind of a way to bypass the out of date maps on your factory nav. Your dealer should be able to hook you up.
