A hydraulic tappet, also known as a hydraulic valve lifter or hydraulic lash adjuster, is a device for maintaining zero valve clearance in an internal combustion engine. Conventional solid valve lifters require regular adjusting to maintain a small clearance between the valve and its rocker or cam follower.
Why do you need to adjust valve clearance?
The valve mechanism (push rod, lifter, and rocker arm assembly) is adjusted so that the lash has the proper clearance necessary to regulate the opening and closing of the valve. If the lash clearance is too tight, the valve cannot close and seal properly in the cylinder head, and exhaust gases will leak past the valve.
What’s the best way to adjust hydraulic lifters?
To adjust hydraulic lifters two fingers spin the pushrod as the lock nut is gently tightened. When resistance is felt on the pushrod, that’s zero lash. The adjuster is tightened to specs then the setscrew locks it in place. When changing valvetrain components always check rocker arm geometry.

Why is my MP7 losing fuel pressure while under load?
Hey guys i have a 08 mack mp7 that is losing fuel pressure while under load. we have replaced the fuel supply line and all fuel lines on the motor, also injector cups and injectors have been done 3 times in the last 50,000 mi by the dealer. then we did the fuel filter housing and main fuel pump any ideas will be greatly appreiciated.
When did the Mack diesel engine come out?

Are there any MP7 engines that still have copper Cups?
I know of only 1 2008-2009 MP engine in our area that still has the orignal copper cups/injector holders in it, most were replaced once with the original style copper the again with the new conical stainless cups and injectors. Some would be hard to start after setting and some would set low fuel pressure codes only after getting warmed up.
