Why is the passenger door on my Jaguar not opening?
Had a friend try to open the passenger door over the weekend and it wouldn’t open and appears to be locked shut. Won’t open from the outside or the inside. The car central locking works, and yet the door lock still doesn’t appear to shut when the central locking is used, though the three other doors lock.

The lock assembly is about £100 retail, and it shouldn’t take more than an hour to fit. The door will open because you use the handle, this lifts the solenoid, it’s when you rely solely on the solenoid to work the lock it falls down, I’m assuming yours is keyless entry as is mine.

Hello and Welcome to justanswer.. As nothing will work , it sounds as though the car battery has for whatever reason gone flat – or there is a fault developed in the Cdl ( locking ) system – but its more likely the former.

When you sit in the car and try and lock the car using the dash buttons – Nothing.. We have checked all the fuses and they are ok.. I’m reluctant to have any thing to do with going to a jag dealership as i’ve been poorly treated in the past (i will bore you on another post later on that one)

Why is the boot lock on my Jaguar X-type not working?
Twisting a long handled flat bladed screwdriver and hey presto the boot lock releases. Then its a case of linking a wire to the eye hook at the bottom of the unit. while you await a replacement solenoid to arrive from e bay. Hopefully the lights issue on the number plate should remedy itself when the part is fitted .keep you posted!

The cable can be accessed by removing the right hand side boot carpet and getting your hand right into the gap between the inside of the rear wing and the bulkhead (you’ll need to feel your way as there’s no way to see what’s going on in there).

Thanks WoodB. I have tried pressing the big black button under the chrome trim but to no avail. My usual sequence is to press the doors open button on the fob twice (unlocking all the doors and boot) and then press the big black button. But this no longer works nor does pressing the button on the fob that only opens the boot.

I think I had to drop it down below the window support then lift it up again the other side then drop it down again – or something like that. Reverse the process to refit. It may be worth fitting a new clip as the old one could be worn although others have had complete success with repositioning the rod on the existing clip.

Why does my Jaguar XF not lock or unlock?
Just recently my two rear doors will not lock or unlock with the remote, I have to push the button on the inside to lock or unlock. No problems with front doors and everything else works fine, no battery issues either. Anyone have any ideas? Hello, Watching the replies to this.

The problem was actually the interior door handle where it connects to the cable to the the door latch mechanism. The interior handle is two part….. The lock tab and the door open tab. Basically the wife had pulled too hard and one tab had over ridden the other.
